Instructions for Authors: Submission to the ARA Journal of Sciences

The ARA Journal of Sciences is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by the American Romanian Academy of Arts and Sciences (ARA). It welcomes high-quality original research papers, reviews, and contributions in all areas of the sciences and engineering.

 1. Submission Process

- Manuscripts must be submitted as a Microsoft Word document (.docx).

- Submit your paper by email to: Info@AmericanRomanianAcademy.org.

- In the email subject line, please use: "ARA Journal of Sciences Submission: [Title of Your Paper]".

- Include in the body of the email:

     - Full name of the corresponding author.

     - Affiliation and contact information.

     - A brief cover letter (1–2 paragraphs) stating the novelty of the work, confirming it is original and not under consideration elsewhere, and noting any conflicts of interest.

- You will receive an acknowledgment of receipt within a few business days.

 2. Article Processing Charge (APC)

The ARA Journal of Sciences is an open-access journal. Upon acceptance, authors are required to pay an Article Processing Charge (APC) of 200 USD.

Payment details will be provided in the acceptance notification.

 3. Manuscript Preparation Guidelines

Prepare your manuscript in Microsoft Word using a clear, standard font (e.g., Times New Roman, 12 pt, 1.5 line spacing, with 1-inch margins on all sides).

The recommended structure is IMRaD format, i.e. Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussions. While this is the core outline, IMRaD papers are typically preceded by a Title and Abstract and followed by References. For a deeper dive into structuring each section, you can consult resources like the Excelsior OWL IMRAD Outlining Resource.

Recommended Structure (IMRaD format):

     - Title — Concise and informative.

     - Authors and Affiliations — Full names, institutions, and email of the corresponding author (marked with *).

     - Abstract — 150–250 words.

     - Keywords — 4–6 relevant keywords.

     - Introduction

     - Materials and Methods

     - Results

     - Discussion

     - Conclusions (optional but recommended)

     - Acknowledgments

     - References

     - Figures and Tables (embedded in the text, with captions)

Length: Typically 6–20 pages (including references and figures). Very long manuscripts may be returned for shortening.

Language: Clear, grammatical English. Professional editing is strongly recommended for non-native speakers.

Citation and Reference Style

Authors must use one consistent citation style throughout the manuscript. The journal accepts the following two styles:

Option 1: APA Style (7th edition) – Preferred for many scientific fields, especially those involving social or behavioral aspects.

- In-text citations: (Author, Year) or Author (Year). For three or more authors: (Author et al., Year).

- References listed alphabetically at the end.

Example (APA): In-text: (Smith, 2023) or Smith et al. (2023)

      Reference: Smith, J. A., Johnson, B., & Lee, C. (2023). Title of the article. *Journal Name, 15*(2), 45–67. https://doi.org/10.1234/example

Option 2: IEEE Style – Preferred for engineering, computer science, and many technical fields.

- In-text citations: Numbered sequentially in square brackets [1], [2], etc.

- References listed numerically in the order of appearance.

      Example (IEEE): In-text: [1] or [1, 2]

Reference: [1] J. A. Smith, B. Johnson, and C. Lee, “Title of the article,” *Journal Name*, vol. 15, no. 2, pp. 45–67, Feb. 2023, doi: 10.1234/example.

Please indicate your chosen citation style (APA or IEEE) in the cover letter. Use a reference management tool (e.g., Zotero, EndNote, Mendeley) for accuracy. Include DOIs whenever available.

Figures and Tables:

Number consecutively and provide clear captions. Submit high-resolution figures (≥300 dpi) separately if the embedded version is low quality.

Originality and Ethics: Submissions must be original and unpublished. Declare any conflicts of interest. Follow standard research ethics (e.g., approvals for human/animal studies).

 4. Peer Review Process

All submissions undergo rigorous peer review (typically 4–8 weeks). Revisions may be requested.

 5. After Acceptance

- Galley proofs will be sent for review.

- Pay the $200 APC upon acceptance.

- The article will be published online with open access.
